I recently purchased a refurbished T7910 Workstation and am interested to upgrade the RAM and am curious to know if there is a real difference in the workstation vs server RAM - is server RAM compatible or can I run with this configuration?

Registered ecc memory is spec. There really isn't a workstation/server difference. I'm guessing you're going off of eBay listing descriptions. Pc4-2133p registered ecc memory regardless of description will work fine in the 7910.
