DELL T3600 power options for Aorus GTX1080 TI

Post by Bentleg »

Hi as per the title. I have a t3600 workstation and a aorus GTX 1080ti. My power board only has one 8 pin power supply. I'd like to be able to use this card. I'm a bit of a newb so any help is massively appreciated.
I have ordered an 8pin to dual 8pin but I understand this might cause my machine to shut down. Will the above cable, plus whatever the power the card pulls from the pcie be enough? Thanks

Most likely not. I just had a discord member buy a power distribution board for a 5600/5610 so he had a 2nd 8 pin CPU power connection. I had to custom pin him a cable to use it though. It's currently in the mail back to him. He has been using the card lightly with a Sata to 8 pin adapter while waiting for this harness. Personally I don't recommend those.

Thanks for the reply. So potentially I could use the 8pin from the power distribution board. And a sata to 8 pin as the 2nd ?

Yes.
The reason I don't like this is because the sata line is only a single 12v wire. That still is connected to an 18 amp circuit breaker. That wire will melt before tripping that.
If you go the route with a 5610 power distribution board. Just know that I was not able to locate a plug and play cable 8 pin EPS to 8 pin pcie. You're welcome to look and report back. The cable I built was for him to use a 2080 super. That's an 8 pin +6 pin. So I made an 8 pin EPS to dual 6 pin pcie.

Yes but not as a direct connection. That would be a 5610 power distribution board. Another Dell 8 pin CPU harness. And then that adapter would connect to that.

Good afternoon I have a Dell T3610. I bought a 5600 power distribution board like this 0CVHT6, as it was written here, and I want to connect a geforce GTX1080i. but when the cable is plugged into the PCU2 slot on the station, 1.3 lights up and flashes orange. Help me with advice on what I'm doing wrong. Interestingly, I don't even plug the plug into the video card.Thank you waiting for an answer. Power supply D685ef-00 . I wrote the same message in another similar topic. Excuse me.
