Z800 upgraded power graphics harness?

I've been looking for the harness with the (3) 6pin plugs and I can't find one. Has anyone thought or pull of the idea of buying the harness with only two plugs and de-pin one and use the harness to pin another to make the three plug harness? Or is everyone just using the 4 pin molex to 6 pin and a 2 6pin to 8 pin adapter?

If I'm remembering right the connection just isn't terminated but the connector is the same. If you can find the pinout I don't think there is any reason you can't do exactly that. I've made lots of my own harnesses for my dells.

Does the Z800 and Z820 share the same power supply? I ask because I'm seeing ebay posts showing auctions stating they can be used in one another. If so, I am able to find the harness with the 3x6 pin for the Z820 l. If you compare the 2 harnesses, you can clearly see the additional pins that have been added to the Z820 harness vs the Z800, so I'm assuming they would be the same pin out.

Which psu do you currently have? Could you post a photo of all the rails listed on it? There may or may not be an benefit to adding the additional harness if there isn't a separate rail to pull from.

I am running the 1100 watt psu.

I am looking at my old 850 watt psu and comparing it to the 1110 watt psu and the only difference that I see in regards to the pins in the rails is that the 1110 watt psu has one additional pin vs the 850 watt psu.

Well what I wanted to get at on your psu is you have 2 18 amps rails for graphics. So if you have 2 or 3 connections coming out the available power is the same. I'm looking at 12vg1 and 12vg2. What card are you attempting to run that you need a third connection?

I'm trying to use a gtx 1080 ti which requires a 6 pin and 8 pin. I had initially asked if people were just running these instead.

Since it's confirmed you have 2 18 amp rails on that PSU you should be just fine using a 6 to 8 pin adapter.

The dual 6 pin harness you have right now goes to 12 separate pins on the PSU correct?
